Hello from Washington, DC, as most of you know I currently work for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. I am a Security Specialist for the Museum. I left Wackenhut Services, National Capital Region in May of 2006 for this job. I was the Assistant Project Manager at the Museum. Bob Schwartzman works up at Germantown in Security for DOE. Hopefully I will be relocated to Las Vegas Nevada by June 2009. Carrol, my wife works for WSINCR. Hope this reaches everyone. Health and Happiness to all, especially during the upcoming Holiday Season.

Rocky Flats Cold War Museum

Allard Announces $492,000 Awarded to Rocky Flats Cold War Museum

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy & Water Development, announced today that the Rocky Flats War Museum has been awarded a $492,000 Department of Energy Grant.

“Funding for this project is particularly important to me, as it will help preserve the legacy and history of Rocky Flats,” said Allard. “Documenting the world renowned clean-up of Rocky Flats will serve as a reminder to us all of how Colorado made the impossible, possible.”

This funding will be used for initial museum and exhibit development planning and will assist efforts to improve the storage and documentation of artifacts.

“Our nation owes a debt to the men and women that worked at Rocky Flats. Their efforts helped overcome the staggering threat of communism,” continued Allard. “The museum will serve as a daily reminder of the challenges our country faced during the Cold War and the many sacrifices made by our nation’s Cold War Veterans.”

Allard was an original sponsor of the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge Act which statutorily required that the former nuclear weapons production facility be cleaned-up and transferred to the U.S. Dept. of Interior for purposes of a Wildlife Refuge. Since 1996, Allard had worked to ensure the successful clean-up of Rocky Flats, securing more than $7 billion dollars for clean-up funding and community involvement efforts. The clean-up effort was completed in December 2005 and the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge was officially established in July 2007. The Rocky Flats Technology Site manufactured components for nuclear weapons for our nation’s defense until 1988. The 6,200 acre complex once housed more than 100 buildings and is located 16 miles northwest of downtown Denver.

Hoping to see you there.

Hello All,

I'm a little sheepish about sending out this invite and A LOT embarrassed. You see, I am not of the R.Flats alumni, I am just one of the biggest procrastinators of all time. Let me introduce myself;
my name is Marlyce Peck, and Randy is my husband. Randy turned 50 June 27th, and I really wanted to do this big BBQ at our place, but with summer, farming, cows, work, and school, I just
didn't get it together. So, I still want to do something for him, but now that the weather is getting cooler and unpredictable, I decided that we should all try to meet at an establishment instead.
LETS GET TOGETHER

Where: Hoffbrau

7699 W 88th Ave

Arvada, CO

When: Saturday, September 27

Time: 2:00 pm- 5:00

What: Informal gathering of friends

Ok – now here are the rules: This is a get together for Randy to meet with some of his friends that I wanted to do for him. It is not a Birthday Party, so no presents please (this will keep me out of trouble).

We’ll meet outside on the patio, and in case of inclement weather, we have a room available inside.

I’ll probably hand out tickets to you when you arrive, which will be good for a drink (Happy Hour starts at 3:00 pm) and some sort of appetizer. If you want to order something from the menu (check out their website --> http://www.hoffbrau-co.com ) you’ll be on your own (sorry, I’m a poor college student).

If you can RSVP, that would be great, if not, hopefully we’ll just see you there. My email address is coloavfan@comcast.net.

In case I don't get around to talking to you, I want to Thank Debbie Clark for getting the ball going and contacting people for me so that I could get email addresses, and Larry Esquebel and Debbie Iko for helping me pick the venue.
