Rod Green

Anyone who remembers Rod Green please leave a message about him. He retired in 1989 from Lock and Key and his son, Ted Green, would like to hear any stories about him from from his Rocky Flats friends. Thanks.

Just wanted to put in a little about my Dad and maybe someone will remember him and add a few words. My Mom is still with us and I know she would also love to hear from some of his buddies or anyone that had my Dad say "Hi" to when you entered the west gate.
Dad was a big guy at 6'-3". He always had a smile and told a good joke. He loved to kid people and loved to laugh when the kidding made the recipient laugh.
Dad was involved , for years, with Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts and probably had lots of stories to tell. I never really knew much about Rocky. He told me more about the peole there because he enjoyed you all so much. I remember going to the company picnics at Eliches. I was pretty young but still remember. I remember taking Dad to work with my Mom when I was pretty young and dropping him off at the west gate and watching him go in the building and walk in front of the one window into the back. And then picking him up again the same way, waiting for his silhouette to go by the window. I always knew it was him.
Dad retired in 1989. He and Mom sold our house of 32 years and moved into a 36 foot RV and they toured the country until early 1995. He loved that life style. We fished for salmon in Oregon when I lived there. He loved that. He enjoyed visiting with people in the RV parks, no matter who they were. I was so proud of my folks for that because I never thought they would ever move out of the old house. Dad didn't like change too much. Dad and Mom were helping his cousin recooperate from hip surgery in Denver in July 1995. Typical of him, always looking out for someone else. Mom was talking to him one night as they sat at their bedside, he took three deep breaths, and laid down and was gone. His heart had stopped.
He was always so caring and gentle yet firm when he needed to be as a son can only attest to.
I love him very much and miss him even more. I can't wait to see him again. Well that's a little about my Dad so I hope this might offer an opportunity for anyone else to add a little something. He loved you all very much.
I love you Dad.
Ted
